Or, so we thought until we saw Rihanna's latestBritish Voguecover look.

The magazine released the cover of its September issue featuring RiRi with pencil line brows. The cover marks the first time a black woman has appeared on the cover of a September issue of British Vogue in the magazine's 102 year history.

The shoot was styled by British Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful and shot by fashion photographer Nick Knight.

Rihanna's makeup look was created by Isamaya Ffrench using Fenty Beauty, and the floral headpieces were created by flower artist Azuma Makoto.

The photos — which are, of course, breathtakingly beautiful — immediately caused something of a stir on Twitter. And, it seems, many people aren't too fond of the idea of the return of thin brows.

As many of you might recall, thin brows were huge in the early 2000s. But, a lot's changed since then — namely the size of our brows. Currently, larger, less-plucked brows are in vogue.

Many noted that Rihanna isn't actually the first person to revive the thin brows trend — women in South Africa started this trend some time ago.

The September issue of British Vogue hits newsstands on Friday 3 August.
